The role of African universities in Lesotho is increasingly recognised as pivotal for knowledge production and dissemination across various fields including but not limited to health sciences. The research employs a mixed-methods approach involving secondary data analysis from university records and interviews with key stakeholders to assess the impact and distribution of scholarly outputs. A notable finding is that while Lesotho's universities produce significant academic papers, there is an underutilization of these findings in local healthcare practices, indicating a need for better dissemination strategies. The study concludes that enhancing collaboration between universities and the broader community could significantly improve knowledge translation and application in Lesotho’s health sector. Recommendations include fostering stronger partnerships with local healthcare providers and developing targeted training programmes to leverage university research effectively.
