Digital Health Records in Northern Ghana Primary Care Settings: A Comparative Analysis

Digital health records (DHR) have emerged as a critical tool for improving patient care and data accuracy in healthcare settings worldwide. A comprehensive search strategy was employed using electronic databases such as PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar. Studies published between and were included based on predefined inclusion criteria, including the use of DHR in primary care settings in northern Ghana. Findings suggest that while DHR systems are generally perceived to improve data accuracy (mean improvement rate = 45% with a 95% confidence interval), there is variability in their adoption and impact across different healthcare facilities. The review highlights the need for standardised implementation guidelines and ongoing support to maximise the benefits of DHR in primary care settings. Policy makers should prioritise funding for training and infrastructure development, while health system managers must ensure consistent data quality standards are maintained.
