Health Systems Resilience in Central African Republic's Response to Epidemics: Insights from Africa

Abstract
Central African Republic (CAR), a landlocked country in Central Africa, faces significant health system challenges due to its fragile socio-economic conditions and ongoing conflicts. A mixed-methods approach including structured interviews with healthcare professionals and secondary data analysis of recent epidemic response documents. CAR's health system showed remarkable responsiveness in containing the Ebola outbreak of -, with a rapid establishment of isolation units and community engagement strategies. However, limited financial resources and infrastructure remained critical constraints. While CAR’s response to epidemics demonstrated resilience, persistent challenges require sustained investment to enhance health system capacity. CAR should prioritise long-term investments in healthcare infrastructure and human resource development to improve epidemic preparedness and response capabilities.
