Abstract
Traditional medicine plays a significant role in healthcare systems across Africa, including Mozambique, where it is deeply integrated into daily life and cultural practices. A review of existing literature on traditional medicine and its integration into healthcare systems will be conducted to inform the theoretical framework. This includes examining historical data and current policies related to traditional medicine in Mozambique. The theoretical framework underscores the necessity for policy makers and healthcare providers to recognise traditional medicine as an integral part of Mozambique's healthcare landscape, balancing its benefits with regulatory frameworks that ensure patient safety. Policy recommendations include formalizing traditional healers' roles through training programmes and certification processes. This would enhance their credibility while ensuring adherence to health standards.
