Methodological Evaluation of District Hospitals Systems in Ghana:A Randomized Field Trial for Measuring Adoption Rates

Abstract

In Ghana, district hospitals play a crucial role in healthcare delivery, but their operational efficiency varies significantly. A randomized field trial was conducted among 100 district hospitals in Ghana. Hospitals were randomly assigned to either implement or not implement new medical protocols, with data collected on protocol adoption rates and other operational metrics over one year. The study found that the implementation of new medical protocols led to a 25% higher adoption rate compared to those without intervention (p < .01, CI: [18%, 34%]). This randomized field trial provides robust evidence on the effectiveness of implementing new medical protocols in district hospitals.
