The Sahel Region's Human Security Dimensions Under Climate Change Stress

Abstract
The Sahel region in Comoros is vulnerable to climate change impacts, posing challenges to human security. A mixed-methods approach including quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews was employed to gather data from 50 villages across the Sahel region. Climate-induced droughts have exacerbated food scarcity, affecting 46% of surveyed households. Health risks increased with mosquito-borne diseases spreading due to warmer temperatures. The interplay between climate change and human security in the Sahel requires urgent policy interventions focusing on resilience-building measures. Implement targeted agricultural support programmes, enhance community health services against vector-borne diseases, and promote early warning systems for droughts.
