Abstract

South Africa is a diverse country with multiple regional economic blocs influencing its political economy. The study employs qualitative research methods including participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis among various stakeholders across the country's regions. There is a notable concentration of economic activities within the Western Cape region, particularly in agriculture and tourism sectors, which has led to significant employment opportunities and revenue generation. The regional blocs have distinct impacts on local economies and governance, necessitating tailored strategies for sustainable development across South Africa’s diverse regions. Policy-makers should consider the unique characteristics of each regional bloc when formulating national-level economic policies to ensure equitable growth and inclusivity.
