Abstract

Urban Lagos in Nigeria is characterized by high levels of urbanization and significant gender disparities affecting various sectors including legal aid access. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative analysis of legal service records to provide comprehensive insights into disparities over time. The study highlights the persistent gender gap in legal aid access among women, emphasising the need for targeted interventions to improve service delivery and accessibility. Policy recommendations include strengthening community-based support networks, enhancing public awareness campaigns, and implementing gender-sensitive legal reforms to address disparities effectively.
