Abstract

Afrofuturism is an interdisciplinary field that explores African perspectives on future technologies and societies. The review synthesizes existing literature on Afrofuturism and its applications in Malawi, emphasising theoretical frameworks and case studies. A key theme emerging from the reviewed literature is the integration of traditional knowledge with modern technologies to address contemporary challenges, particularly in healthcare and education. Afrofuturism offers a nuanced approach that bridges cultural heritage with technological innovation, providing insights into potential African futures. However, there is limited empirical data on its direct impact. Further research should focus on evaluating the practical applications of Afrofuturist principles in Malawi's socio-economic development.
