Abstract

Pan-Africanism has been a significant force in African Studies for decades, advocating for unity among African nations and peoples. In contemporary times, Sierra Leone's position as a post-conflict society presents unique challenges and opportunities for pan-Africanist movements. This study will employ a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with focus groups to gather insights from local leaders and community members. Secondary data analysis on government reports and academic literature will complement these primary sources. Pan-Africanist movements in Sierra Leone face significant economic disparities, exacerbating social tensions and political instability. There is a notable lack of coordinated efforts between various pan-African organizations operating within the country. Despite challenges, there are opportunities for increased collaboration among pan-African groups to address common issues such as healthcare access and education reform in Sierra Leone. Recommendations include fostering greater coordination between different pan-African initiatives, leveraging existing local networks, and advocating for inclusive economic policies that benefit all Sierra Leoneans.
