Abstract

Afrofuturism is a contemporary cultural movement that explores African heritage through futuristic and speculative narratives. This study employed qualitative interviews with 20 Guinean intellectuals and futurists to analyse their visions of African futures. Themes emerged around technological integration and cultural preservation, with a significant proportion (65%) focusing on technological advancements as the key driver for future progress in Guinea. Afrofuturism offers valuable insights into how Guinean intellectuals envision their country’s development, emphasising both innovation and heritage maintenance. Policy makers should consider fostering a balanced approach that integrates modern technology with traditional cultural practices to achieve sustainable futures.
