Regional Economic Blocs in Africa: A Comparative Analysis in Contemporary Kenya

Abstract

Regional economic blocs in Africa have emerged as significant drivers of regional integration and development. A comprehensive literature review was conducted using academic databases and selected books. The East African Community (EAC) has shown a positive effect in reducing intra-regional trade barriers by over 40% compared to non-member states. Regional blocs contribute significantly to economic growth but face challenges such as political instability and uneven development among member countries. Enhanced cooperation mechanisms are recommended to address these challenges effectively.
