Abstract

Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition affecting children in Ghanaian primary schools, where community health education campaigns have been implemented to improve understanding and management of the disease. A comprehensive search strategy was employed across multiple databases, including PubMed and Cochrane Library, to identify relevant studies. Studies were screened based on predefined inclusion criteria related to community health education campaigns for asthma prevention. Findings indicate that the implementation of education programmes led to a statistically significant decrease in respiratory symptoms control rates among adolescents by an average of 15% (95% CI: -20, -10). The review highlights the effectiveness of community health education campaigns in improving adolescent asthma management. Recommendation for future research is to extend the duration and frequency of these educational interventions to further improve respiratory symptom control rates. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
