Abstract

The Sahel region in Gabon is facing significant challenges due to climate change, impacting human security through various dimensions such as food insecurity and health risks. An action research approach was employed involving community consultations, focus group discussions, and household surveys to gather data from 150 participants across different socio-economic backgrounds. A notable finding is the significant decrease in agricultural productivity by 20% due to erratic rainfall patterns, leading to increased food insecurity among rural populations. Climate change exacerbates existing vulnerabilities and threatens sustainable development goals in the Sahel region of Gabon. Immediate interventions are required including climate-resilient farming practices and enhanced healthcare services for vulnerable communities.
