Health Systems Resilience in Epidemic Response: Lessons from Africa's African Context
Abstract
Health systems in Africa face unique challenges during epidemic responses, necessitating resilience strategies that can be tailored to local contexts. Qualitative case study approach was employed, focusing on Moroccan healthcare responses during recent epidemic events. A key finding is the significant underutilization of community health workers (CHWs) in outbreak containment efforts, indicating a need for enhanced CHW integration into national strategies. This analysis underscores the importance of local context-specific interventions to enhance epidemic response capabilities within African health systems. Recommendation is to strengthen community engagement and integrate traditional healthcare workers more effectively into contemporary public health responses.
