Land Reform and Socio-Economic Transformations in Ugandan East Africa, 2002 Context
Abstract
This study examines the impact of land reform on socio-economic transformations in Uganda’s East Africa. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative data from government reports and surveys was employed. Land redistribution has led to an increase of 15% in smallholder farmers' yields, which is a significant proportion impacting rural livelihoods positively. Policy reforms aimed at enhancing land tenure security are essential for sustainable socio-economic development in Uganda's East Africa region. The government should implement targeted agricultural support programmes and strengthen institutions to facilitate equitable land distribution and utilization.
