Abstract

Health systems in Africa face unique challenges during epidemics due to limited resources and infrastructure. A survey-based approach was employed with semi-structured interviews among healthcare workers and policymakers in Benin. Data analysis focused on quantitative and qualitative responses to evaluate the effectiveness of the health system’s response to the epidemic. Findings indicate that while Benin's health system demonstrated resilience in timely disease containment, there were notable gaps in community engagement and resource allocation. Benin’s experience highlights the importance of enhanced community involvement and equitable resource distribution for future epidemic preparedness and response. Strengthen community partnerships and ensure fair resource distribution to improve health system resilience during epidemics. Health System Resilience, Epidemic Response, Benin, Community Engagement
