Methodological Evaluation of Community Health Centers Systems in Rwanda: A Randomized Field Trial for Cost-Effectiveness Assessment
Abstract
Community health centers in Rwanda have been established to improve access to healthcare services, particularly in rural areas where resources are limited. A comprehensive search strategy was employed using electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library. Studies were screened based on predefined inclusion criteria related to methodology and cost-effectiveness assessment. The review identified a randomized field trial conducted in that evaluated the cost-effectiveness of community health centers in terms of patient satisfaction and healthcare outcomes, with a sample size of 500 participants. While the randomized field trial provided insights into the operational effectiveness of community health centers, further longitudinal studies are needed to validate these findings across different regions of Rwanda. Future research should focus on expanding the study region and incorporating qualitative assessments alongside quantitative data for a more holistic evaluation. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
