Empowerment Programmes in Nairobi Slums: An Economic Empowerment Assessment Over One Year
Abstract
Women's empowerment programmes in Nairobi slums have gained attention for their potential to improve socio-economic conditions. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including surveys and qualitative interviews among participants of the empowerment programmes in Nairobi slums. Participants reported an average monthly saving rate of £150 per household, indicating significant progress towards financial independence. The findings suggest that structured empowerment programmes can effectively enhance economic stability in underserved communities. Further research should explore the long-term impacts and scalability of these interventions across different slums.
