Abstract

Play-based learning centres have emerged as an innovative approach to early childhood development in Cairo, Egypt, offering a holistic educational experience that integrates play with developmental milestones. The study employed participant observation and in-depth interviews to document daily activities within the play-based learning centres and the experiences of parents and educators. Focus groups were used to gather qualitative feedback from children about their engagement with the curriculum. Children showed significant improvement in cognitive tasks, particularly in language comprehension and problem-solving abilities, which was consistent across all age groups enrolled in the studies conducted at these centres. The findings suggest that play-based learning can be an effective tool for early childhood development when structured with clear developmental objectives. Further research is recommended to explore long-term effects and scalability of such interventions. Policy makers should consider integrating elements of play-based learning into existing early childhood education frameworks, provided they are tailored to meet the specific needs and cultural contexts of different regions.
