Abstract

ICT literacy programmes have been introduced to enhance digital skills among rural communities in Senegal, aiming to bridge the digital divide and improve economic opportunities. A mixed-methods survey approach was employed, combining quantitative data from online questionnaires with qualitative insights through focus group discussions and interviews. Rural participants showed a moderate level of interest (45%) in ICT literacy programmes, particularly those who perceived immediate benefits such as improved job prospects or educational resources. While initial adoption levels are promising, further tailored interventions are needed to address specific community needs and enhance engagement. Development partners should prioritise community-driven programme design and continuous evaluation to ensure relevance and effectiveness in rural settings.
