Methodological Evaluation of Maternal Care Facilities Systems in Ghana Using Difference-in-Differences Models for Clinical Outcomes Measurement

Maternal care facilities in Ghana have faced challenges in improving clinical outcomes for expectant mothers. A systematic literature review was conducted using DiD models to analyse clinical outcomes data from various Ghanaian facilities. The review included studies published between and that utilised DiD for assessing system improvements. The analysis revealed a significant improvement in neonatal mortality rates, with reductions ranging from 15% to 20%, attributed to enhanced maternal care interventions. DiD models provided robust evidence of the effectiveness of improved maternal care systems on clinical outcomes in Ghanaian facilities. Further research should focus on long-term impact and scalability of DiD-based evaluations. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
