Abstract

Youth Livelihood Development Centres (YLCDs) have emerged as a significant initiative in Nigeria aimed at reducing unemployment among urban youth. A mixed-method approach was employed, including structured interviews with participants and analysis of participant feedback forms. The findings indicate that 45% of participants reported job placements or entrepreneurial ventures as a result of YLCDs within the six-month period. While initial engagement rates were high, sustained employment outcomes require further policy support to ensure long-term success. Policy recommendations include extending financial and technical assistance to graduates of YLCDs and enhancing job matching services post-programme completion.
