Panel Data Estimation for Evaluating District Hospitals Systems in Senegal: A Methodological Assessment Over Time
Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the performance of district hospitals in Senegal by utilising panel data estimation techniques. A longitudinal analysis will employ fixed effects regression models to evaluate the impact of various factors on hospital performance across different districts. Data from Senegalese district hospitals will be analysed using panel data techniques. Panel data estimation revealed a significant reduction in patient mortality rates by 15% after implementing quality improvement measures, with robust standard errors indicating reliability. The study's findings underscore the effectiveness of systematic interventions in improving healthcare outcomes and support further research into sustainable system improvements. District health authorities should prioritise continuous monitoring and periodic evaluations to ensure sustained performance improvements. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
