Abstract

Youth in Africa have gained increasing attention within psychology research due to their demographic significance and developmental challenges. Data was collected through a mixed-methods approach including surveys, interviews with psychologists, and secondary data analysis from existing studies. A comparative framework was used to analyse the research findings. The study identified a significant disparity in the conceptualization of youth development between psychology departments, which often leads to inconsistent interventions targeting youth needs. This paper highlights the need for standardising youth psychology education and practice across Nigerian academic institutions. We recommend establishing a national curriculum framework for youth psychology that integrates best practices from different disciplines and addresses regional disparities.
