Abstract

Community-based education initiatives have been proposed as a means to address educational disparities in rural areas of developing countries like Malawi. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from a representative sample of schools. The survey revealed that community-based education initiatives significantly increased school attendance by 20% compared to control groups without such programmes. Community-based education initiatives play a crucial role in improving educational outcomes, particularly for primary school students in rural Malawi. Further implementation of these initiatives should be prioritised alongside other socio-economic interventions to enhance educational access and success.
