Pre-Education Policy Effects on Maternal Health Outcomes Post-Abortion Legalization in Nigerian Urban Centers: A Systematic Review

Recent legal changes to abortion policies in Nigeria have led to increased discussions on maternal health outcomes. A comprehensive search was conducted using multiple databases including PubMed, Google Scholar, and Embase. Studies were selected based on predefined inclusion criteria and analysed using thematic synthesis. Analysis revealed a significant improvement (p < 0.05) in maternal health literacy scores among urban women after the introduction of educational programmes post-legalization. Pre-education policies have had positive effects on improving maternal health outcomes, particularly in terms of knowledge and awareness about post-abortion care. Future research should focus on evaluating long-term impacts and implementation strategies for sustained benefits. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
