Abstract

Afrofuturism is a contemporary cultural movement that explores the future of Africa and its diasporas through artistic and intellectual expressions. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with a structured questionnaire to gather insights from Egyptian experts and laypeople. 35% of respondents identified technology as the most transformative force for African futures in Egypt. Themes such as equality and environmental sustainability were recurrent across all groups. Afrofuturism offers a nuanced lens through which to understand complex societal challenges, highlighting both optimism and critique within Egyptian discourse on African futures. Further research should explore the intersection of Afrofuturism with existing social movements in Egypt for more comprehensive understanding.
