Impact Evaluation of Community-Based HIV/AIDS Prevention Programmes for Young Adults in Cairo,

Cairo, Egypt faces significant HIV/AIDS challenges among young adults, necessitating targeted community-based prevention programmes. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including pre- and post-programme surveys (n=300) and focus group discussions (n=25). Data were analysed using chi-squared tests for categorical variables and Mann-Whitney U test for continuous measures. Prevalence of unprotected sex decreased by 17% among participants, with a significant increase in condom use from 40% to 60%. Focus groups revealed positive community engagement and support but noted ongoing stigma challenges. The programme showed promising reductions in risky sexual behaviors, though further interventions are needed to address persistent stigmas.
