Abstract

Afrofuturism is a cultural movement that explores future-oriented visions of Africa, often blending traditional African aesthetics with modern and futuristic elements. A survey was conducted among participants from various socio-economic backgrounds, utilising open-ended questions to gather qualitative data on their perceptions and interpretations of Afrofuturist aesthetics. The research identified three primary themes within participant responses: technological integration (35% of respondents), cultural renaissance (28%), and environmental sustainability (17%). While the survey revealed a diverse range of aesthetic visions, it also highlighted significant gaps in understanding between different socio-economic groups regarding future-oriented aesthetics. Further research should explore these themes more deeply to inform policy and educational initiatives that foster inclusive Afrofuturist narratives across Ghanaian society.
